²⁶ So He ^[a](A)swore to them
To make them fall in the wilderness,
²⁷ And to ^(B)make their seed fall among the nations
And to ^(C)scatter them in the lands.

²⁸ They then ^(D)joined themselves to ^[b]Baal-peor,
And ate ^(E)sacrifices offered to the dead.
